There's nothing wrong with "Danny Boy" when well sung--though, as everybody here already knows, the text was written by an English barrister.

In addition to lots of the above-cited songs, I'm very partial to quite a few by Thomas Moore-------especially Let Erin Remember, Oft In the Stilly NIght,--and I believe he also wrote The Minstrel Boy (though I'm not sure of it)--all 3 great songs.

I also really like Rose of Tralee, not by Moore, I believe.
