Subject: RE: BS: some good news on cholesterol
For many people, LDL (bad cholesterol) is directly related to weight but for some it's not. Jerry's doc believes that you could measure your LDL, have liposuction, and measure it again and, for most people, there would be a dramatic reduction. Over the past six months, Jerry lost 9 pounds and his LDL dropped 20 pecent.

HDL (good cholesterol) is related to excercise for most people but, again, for some it's not. There is some recent evidence that fish oil (which contains omega-3 fatty acids) increases HDL in a lot of people. You can get it by eating certain kinds of fish like tuna, mackrel, salmon and some others several times a week. Also, you can buy it in capsules very cheaply and get it that way. Jerry has just started taking the capsules and we'll know if it helped in six months. With this and a little more weight loss he may be able to get off the statin drug.
