The comment from Steve Harris echos some that have appeared over the years in the local paper from people 'out of town'. They couldn't believe the surly attitude of some shop staff and the lunchtime closing with complete indifference to whether CUSTOMERS wanted to shop then or not. But it is also true that some shops are run by owners who need to eat at lunchtime and cannot get staff just to cover for that short period. But with such a number of potential patrons around in folk week, yes, I agree some could make more effort. I think it is all part and parcel of the attitude that Sidmouth should be thanked for allowing the folkies in , rather than Sidmouth should be 'damn grateful' that they come at all.
