Martin, thanks for a reasonable response. No, I'm not an attending physician, but I believe the resolution to this should lie in scientific evidence and not unsupportable hopes. I have seen no evidence that supports the idea that Terri Schaivo is in anything but a vegetative state, and certainly none to support the idea of any recovery. I do have a child, and I think I understand how her parents must feel. Tragically, there are thousands of others who are enduring the same sort of pain, without the complication of lawsuits, media coverage, and those seeking to advance a political agenda.
