Sonnet 10/06/04                         CMXVII

A kitten finds my angel, and crawls in
To warmth and comfort in her arms. How much
I envy him! To know her caring touch
Would be to dreamed-of future hope to win.
What thoughts might kitten have, as tiny claws
Respond to gentle rubs? Does he realize
Who rescued him from rain and chill, and tries
To give him home? Does he touch heart with paws?
How might I join him, and hope to receive
That touch, and smile, and look of such concern?
What must I do, to hope of caring earn?
Should I all of my dreams of muse believe?
The more I know of her, the more I see
The reasons she gives such dear dreams to me.
