One of two songs that weaned me off the Kingston Trio forty odd years ago, and I still play it. Wonderfully easy gender switch, swapping woman and man in the forth verse and boy for girl in the second. As for reel/real, I think one of each, in that order. Also, I always heard the second line, second verse as "off whiskey and frolic I often did swear"...Mike
