Catspaw, maybe Larry meant, that if you believe in something (hopefully good stuff like ethics, kindness, compassions, etc.) that no matter how challenging it gets 'out there', with all odds against you, you still maintain your faith.

As for banjo playing in the nude, I figure it's going to take me too many years to become a good player, so I thought I'd try a new angle to generate popularity. I must say, my performance doesn't look too bad in the mirror.
