Nor do I mean to offend by defending it in principle.

The question we might really want to ask is how we grew so afraid of our parts, pieces and elements? Doesn't it tend to drive us into a kind of fearful schizophrenia to be unwilling to communicate about body parts and their various uses?

Just a thought. I have never been fond of the Victorian/Edwardian terror of limbs.
