Sonnet 13/10/04                           CMXXXVII

Does rain wash away tears, or does the cloud
Cast shadow on her dream? How can sun shine
Without her smile? Is hope for dream allowed,
With muse unhappy? Can I make grief mine?
How might I ease her pain, or heal the ache
Another left in heart? Hope will remain,
But I regret the reasons that would make
This muse unhappy, and cheeks with tear stain.
Might I kiss muse, and brush away her tears?
She is far more than one to love: She gives
My dreams the breath of life. Yet, all the years
Conspire, to make sure some of doubt still lives.
She is enough, for hope, and all my dreams:
Why can I not believe all is as seems?
