Sonnet 17/10/04                           CMXLII

How might I lift her above daily grind,
To ease the wear of day-in, day-out toil?
How can I give her time enough to find
Words to tell dreams, or dreams to be the soil
To nurture hope? Am I greedy, to think
That I will gain from dreams? She is my source
And focus: How could I in heart not link
Her happiness with mine, and fear remorse?
How might I ease concerns, when they are real,
Except to offer care? I cannot change
The past: Might I have chance to future feel?
I should not presume to her life arrange.
I want her to have time to love, and dream:
What would it take for joy to in eyes gleam?
