.... it is also an interesting thought that a vote for the DUP, in practice, meant a vote to keep the stalemate. As the DUP will not go into government with Sinn Féin, de-commissioning or no (as Paisley intimated to Seamus McKee in a BBC radio interview yesterday), Direct Rule will continue just as it has been.

A situation, incidentally, which nobody wants; especially the DUP.

De-commissioning is a no-go neither.

Because to claim that only the signatories to the Agreement are bound by it, is to turn the logic around. If the Loyalist Death Squads are not pressed to hand in their weapons, purely on the basis that they never agreed to do it, in the first place, why should the onus be solely on the IRA? They never agreed to do it before the agreement, and look at the trouble they got into because of that.

Why should the same pressure not be levelled at the Loyalists?

And why has this not been an ongoing subject for discussion?

Anyone?
