Well durn, I'm glad to finally get that first line right after over ten years of singing this (learned from the Jones version).

I also have the Black Family version which starts out "Just over the river" instead of "Shotover River". That is pretty lame in my opinion, could they not be bothered to look it up or at least listen carefully? Reminds me of a conversation i just had with a friend who I play with...she has a new song we've been performing and told me she had removed a place name from the lyrics "so it would be more generic". Why? I asked her so she changed it back to the original.
Place names in songs are where it's at. If you hear one you might accidentally learn something if you have any natural curiosity.
