I have a friend with dual nationality, who spends most of her life in the USA.

She says that the public in general have much more respect for authority and the political system than we do in the UK.

She describes it as "The Waltons syndrome", that they long for a patrician set up as portrayed in the old TV series, where a homespun philosophy cures all the worlds ills.

I wonder if this condition occured naturally, or was it encouraged by the less than homespun masters..Ake
