Eddie Barcan (of Cambridge fest fame) is booking the Avalon stage this year, which is why it houses so many folk acts. I believe he was brought in (having been involved in various informal capacities for years) for exactly that purpose - to extend the folk content of the festival.

Whalebone Polly are playing twice - once on the Acoustic stage and once at Crouissant Neuf, but it depends on how strict your definition of "folk" is as to whether you'll enjoy them - I think they're great. Demon Barbers, Oysterband, Eliza Carthy, Rory McCloud and lots of others are on the Avalon stage.

Timings for the smaller stages never seem to be released beforehand, but as soon as you get to the site you can pick up an Observer guide thing in its plastic wallet and get full timings of everything. They hand them out round the JazzWorld stage amongst other places, which is where I nearly always meet up with friends on the Thursday evening.

See you there!
