Sonnet 21/1/05                        CMLXXII

How might I find flower to send, that tells
Of my desire? Sweet rose has thorns to give
Unwanted wound; The lilac casts no spells;
And lily less time than even dreams live.
Is there blossom yet to be found, as sweet
And soft as dream of muse, that does not fade?
I seek what may not be: Yet, heart will greet
As real these hopes that dreams of muse have made.
I have only pale words, to try to please,
And dreams where I wish memory. Dare heart
Demand even a smile? Does dream heart tease
With hope that lips might ever passions start?
My muse allows my dreams, but should I think
She might let heart from her heart's desires drink?
