Sonnet 31/1/05                      CMLXXIV

I cannot keep from caring for the muse
That all of dreams control. She is the one
That hope and verses give: Can I refuse
The love her eyes have in my heart begun?
I want to find a path, to hold apart
From cold and tears. How might my words conspire
To keep her warm, and safe? Is all of heart
Enough, to give a shadow of desire?
I seek to learn all that I might, of why
She has such power; Not to break heart free,
But to seal spell forever. I would try
To know all of this maid who holds heart's key.
Can I let passions stay, and fill my night
With dreams of her, and still to heart hold tight?
