Thread Name: Why Julie Ellison? (Why a PermaThread?)
Subject: RE: Why Julie Ellison?
I echo all of the positive comments above about Julie, she's a truly class act who transcends any sort of tag - folk, jazz, country, blues, she's all of the above and none of them. Julie's a stunning guitarist (listen to the ragtime accompaniment on 'Southbound'), has a wonderful warm and yes, 'sexy', voice (sorry Julie but it's true!) and is a writer of fine songs - 'Angels' is both beautiful and shocking, leaves audiences stunned, and has to be THE most moving song I've ever heard bar none (not on the CD but is an absolute MUST for the next one - JE/JR please note!). Oh yes, and she's a very nice lady too!

And a word for John Robinson, who's Julie's soundman, roadie, PR man, agent, recording engineer, partner and another thoroughly good egg.

If you see Julie's on anywhere near you, go and see her - you'll have a good time.

PS - Julie's a Yorkshire-dweller, but she's not from Yorkshire! Kent methinks. Obviously decided to move up in the world! :-)
