I disagree. He was on trial in the court of public opinion precisely because he IS different. People consider him to be a freak, and most people are not a bit kind to freaks. Whether he was innocent or guilty (in the legal sense), and to what extent, I cannot say, but I know what he was really on trial for (in most people's minds). Being weird, that's what.
