Sonnet 10/05/05                         CMXCVIII

Shall I send mirror to my muse, to show
Her image of my heart's desire? She gives
Dreams hope: What might I find to let her know
How much I prize the soul that in her lives?
She is more than a dream, but still fills night
With thoughts and feelings: Should I try to reach,
To fold muse into heart? Have I won right
To offer more than words, to longings teach?
I fear she knows my heart yet does not chose
To push away, nor pull me near: Which way
Will I chase dreams? I could not bear to lose
The chance I might her sweet smile earn someday.
Should I ask muse to my future decide,
Or let life be, and in my dreams abide?
