Subject: RE: I am a sad folksinger...cheer me up!!
There is always some sadness when a band breaks up. You've had good times together, rehearsed together, played together, travelled together. I'm in the midst of a similar situation myself. But there were certain band members that just weren't up to par musically and weren't making any effort to improve. I was irritated because I like to "push the limits" a little bit, musically - and stretch myself with different material sometimes. They were content to plug away at the same old songs that required no effort. They picked up on my frustration although I didn't say anything directly - but they felt it, and it caused tension. I've just told them I'm leaving the group. They are not happy, because I was responsible for most of our bookings and was the lead singer, and they'll need to find someone else who can fulfil those requirements if they're going to continue as a group. It's bittersweet, but I've gigged solo before and I look forward to meeting and performing with other musicians I wouldn't have had the opportunity to meet and jam with had I stayed in the original group. Good luck!
