Dropping Virginia would skew the numbers in favor of my argument, beardedbruce. But if you ask almost any Virginian, they will tell you that they are in the South. Most Texans do not consider Texas to be a part of the South. I think the South is defined more by the people who consider themselves to be a part of it, than it is by geographic boundaries. It's a cultural thing.

But since I was the one who was using the term "in the South" originally, I get to decide which states I was talking about. And in my initial response to your post about "average" people, the states I listed are the ones I was talking about.
