Perhaps I overreacted a bit to make my point.

I agree that 'when defining things like "the average experience" back in "the good old days" [that] "The average experience" does include the experiences of the slaves and their descendents, as well as the indigenous peoples... not just the people of European ancestry.

Actually, I'm not all that pessimistic about the future of race relations. It's people like you and many others who post on Mudcat who give me hope for the future.
