You're lucky in that your former boss's behaviour was recognised and something was done about it. Last time I looked him up my boss-from-hell was promoted to the "Organisational Change Manager" of our very large regional local council so not under review or removed from his post but rewarded for his behaviour.

Thankfully my basket-case status has progressed to "still feeling the effects on my health and emotional/psychological wellbeing but able to move forward in my life".
