I have my share of nightmares from surviving Catholic school, too, but I also have memories of music that were more meaningful and profound than what I hear in contemporary U.S. masses. I don't conform to it all, like many of us who rebeled when we were younger. I'm able to see skepticism and authentic mysticism as almost the same thing without having cognitive dissonance... a skeptic says we don't know, and the true mystic says we don't know.
McG of H, I was asked to sing something this August at a mass and I chose "Hail Queen of Heaven". I posted the lyrics here, to the forum, in August or Sept.
Mary G, the song you refer to is in the St. Gregory Hymnal, and I uploaded it for you here - Star of the Sea.
