Exactly. He introduced so many British kids (I include myself) to the Blues and he always had fine musicians around him. My copy of "Long John's Blues" is a prized posession. I first saw him with his Hoochie Coochie Men suporting Chuck Berry along with The Moody Blues and the Graham Bond Organisation back in 1965. I can remember little of Mr Berry and less of the Moody Blues but memories of Bladry and Bond are as clear as yesterday.
