No, Yore Majesty, that's not the pig that was running for King of Mississippi. That one was my former pet Vietnamese Potbelly named "Slim Piggins". He was black. And the story of Slim being consumed by a bunch of overzealous American Legionares at a Memorial Day picnic in Ocean Spring, MS was a bit of a fiction on my part. In real life, I gave Slim to a friend who had another Potbelly named "Dumpling". They thought Dumpling needed a friend and, for us, the novelty of owning a pet pig had worn off so we crated him up and hauled him over to their place where Slim immediately bit Dumpling's ear damned near off. So much for needing a friend. Eventually, Dumpling died of whatever pigs die from. Our friends gave Slim away to someone who promised to keep him as a pet, not use him for pork chops. Yeah, right... His spare-ribs are probably on someone's grill right now.
