Just got (late, I know) the 2-cd album by Doc Watson, Clarence Ashley and others (1960-1962 recordings issued by Smithsonian Folkways as a collection in 1994). Doc Watson's work on guitar and banjo is amazing, but he also sang a pretty mean bass in a couple of the tracks.

All-around great!
