I just shaved my beard off as well. In my case the reason is simple. I am lazy and hate shaving. I am also no good at triming a beard so I tend to let it grow to a point where it starts to irritate me, shave it off and start again. Every time I shave it off, I go through a couple of days of shaving but then drift back again.
