And here is my two cents . . . . I love beards. . .er, beard. The one on the face of my Sweetie is the only one that counts, of course. What woman in their right mind would want to subject themselves to "whisker burn" when there can be a soft, soft beard to nuzzle? And it's a handy to thing to grab when caressing your man's cheek to make sure he's paying attention!
