To be proud of something your country has done, is patriotism. To insist that your country is better than anyone else, that is jingoism. I see no signs of jingoism in this incident... just a group of Mariners with a long long history of helping others less fortunate and a genuine desire to share knowledge and expertise to the benefit of all.

What it all boils down to is this: Regardless of race/colour/creed, when a fellow human is in trouble, there is always someone who will risk all to help. There are also those who will turn away. If you turn away and bitch, don't bitch when someone turns away from you.
