It would seem to me, that divisive formats which would exclude those who customarily use guitars etc. for accompaniment are the antithesis of what a mudgather should be.

Any such would automatically remiove the event from my "Must Go" list.

I was unaware that Mudcat was a place only for those purists who sing acapella, or play only tunes.

The song only format works at the middle bar in Sidmouth, largely because there is also a wealth of oportunity at other venues for the singer/players, but it does reduce the chances of meeting other Catters. Mudgathers IMHO should be bridging, not maintaining, that gap.
