Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Make and Break Harbour (Stan Rogers)
To understand Stan Rogers personality is to undestand where he came from.

He was born and raised in a tough blue collar steel town (Hamilton Ontario) to parents that arrived there from the Canadian Maritimes to find a basic living. Maritimers are people that say it like it is, yes some can be boorish, but overall they are they are the most humane, generous people in Canada. The Maritimes are also the poorist region in Canada, and even so much more in the times of Stan's parents. Upper Canada (Ontario) was not so warm in welcoming Maritimers to their province. So growing up in a harsh, hard town in a family that has moved to a region were they are are looked town upon would produce a personality such as Stan's. The boorishness, and the the humane generosity that Stan possessed. It would also serve him with a vision of what the world is like ... the hardness of it and the beauty of it.

As I mentioned before ... Stan would certainly not disagree with what Kendall said, and he certainly would not want to be remembered strictly as a saint ... he would want to be remembered for what he was.
