Just heard this program, obviously a repeat, while driving home from the Pennsylvania mountains.

I like the Alabama Sacred Harp convention-style------ rough, real, obviously sung by believers. But I also like the neo-Sacred Harp sound of, say, the Word of Mouth Chorus (Rivers of Delight). And I think the Anonymous 4 American Angels CD is stunning. Not traditional, fine. But their voices are indeed angelic.

They are particularly good in the gospel songs, say, Shall We Gather At the River? (With all 5 verses, too, and easy to understand.)

Their rendition of At the River is especially poignant-- "Soon our happy hearts will quiver /With the melody of peace" when you realize that song was written in 1865.
