If you read the poll, you find that the people with mixed feelings were asked to say yea or nay. They said nay--maybe even more now--I'm amazed at the bitter disappointment on the Right at Miers' appointment.

If Bush was going to reap the whirlwind, he could have at least picked Gonzales and possibly scored a few points with the fastest growing ethnic group.   I read in today's Wall St. Journal that Gonzales was in fact his first choice, (but he's evidently weak enough to let himself be talked out of it.) This is not reporting, just a column--but it described the Miers appointment as "Hurricane Harriet". The natives on the Right are indeed restless.
