I know that around 1987-8 you couldn't get into an estate agent's office here in West Wales for the hordes of English fighting to buy property here. 10 years later, no one was looking to buy; a lot were looking to sell. The in-migrants had realized that Good Life / Rural Idyll wasn't all it cracked up to be.
