Is there any truth in the rumour that the Grand Canyon is the result of a Scot dropping a five cent piece down a rabbit hole?

About five years ago I took a caravan tour of Bonnie Scotland, and found it much more expensive than at home (Kent, in the "affluent" southeast). Both in the tourist areas and in tiny villages off the beaten track, everyday items were pricey, and I don't think that's down to "one price for sassenachs, another for Scots.

Or is it.............?
