I'd advise against it, especially if there will be direct sunlight on them. My wife's deceased husband had his guitars hung on the wall for easy access, and the finishes suffered as a result. We have cats, too, and if they're hung over something the cats can get up on, they'll gladly play (claws and all) with this new toy you've hung for them!
