Some of you guys live in extreme places! Necks freezing to the extent that they crack! Brrrr.

It seems to me that the instrument gets just as cold/hot INSIDE the case, but changes temperature more slowly. Otherwise why would you have to take it out of the case to acclimatise when you get to the club? I do understand the comments about the finish, varnish being a fragile covering. An acoustic guitar weighs about 4 kilos. You can get ADHESIVE mounts that will take that, not that I'd trust them, but you take my point.

The music-shop owner mentioned above is right, stringed instruments love to be in amongst the music, and sing quietly to themselves all the time. Cruelty to lock them away from it.
