wow, pretty interesting story behind this tune. I have two questions. 1. Did Harold Courlander obtain this song from alabama school children? What's the story behind that? anybody know? I know he gave it to Kaufman and Kaufman gave it to Van Ronk and went west with it. 2. what on earth is this amazing song about? Anybody know? I can't figure it out. I love the imgaes, the feel, all of the but I don't have a clue what it is about. I would be really grateful to hear any thoughts anyone had about it.
