This is a wonderful tune that a folklorist/writer named Harold Courlander obtained from a group of Schoolchildren in alabama. He then gave it to A poet named Robert kaufman who gave it to Dave Van Ronk if I'm not mistaken. This was before Emmylou and Chubby and all them. I love the song. But I can't figure out what on earth it is about. Any ideas.

   On another thread someone said they saw in a book somewhere the actual spiritual that Green Green Rocky Road derived from. Anybody else got any info on this? Im dying to know what this song is about!
