Time travel in the real world (as oppossed to time travel in fictional works) is achieved via accessing a sub-space continuim of L-space via hyper-ganglionic connections. The degree of meditation and concentration necessary for the willing suspension of dis-belief to achieve the transport is both physically and mentally exhausting - so I usually cheat and use "the door" over at the mudcat tavern - but I wasn't able to find the Tavern - it doesn't appear to be open, so I had to use the hard way.
