UPDATE

Just spoke with Spaw himself. He sounded pretty good, a little weak and fatigued, but he said he'd been napping a bit when I called. His voice grew stronger as we spoke.

He said he'll probably be in there at least another two weeks, so may have to have Christmas a little later. The biggest concern is he is not on any anti-coagulents while they get the ulcers healed, so there is a risk of blood clots. Next week, they will take a look at the ulcer they injected and discuss options then. It seems to be doing okay, now, but there is a possibility of surgery to repair it. His doc said he wasn't a good candidate for surgery, but Spaw reminded her he has never been so and it's basically a crap shoot, either way. He wants to feel better, either way and accepts the risks of surgery, if need be, because he does NOT want to continue as it was the past couple of weeks.

On the whole, he said things are going as well as they can and we'll just have to see. He is elated to be off the bedpan!

He is breathing better, etc. I will talk with him, again, in a few days.

I told him Alba said he was getting to old to be a "mahout" to get off the darn elephant and the rest of you have been lighting @*&%$ reduction candles, sending good thoughts, cracking wise and wishing him well. He's thankful and I even got a soft giggle out of him.
