In 1945, as he was leaving the Phillipines for home, my father bought a model train through the PX system. It was delivered in time for Christmas -- my first Christmas present.

For about 30 years I thought my brother had that train, but he said that he did not. This past August, he found it and sent it out to me.

Needless to say, it's in sad shape. I'd like to get it running again.

It's a Lionel "O" gauge, with engine, tender, boxcar, tank car, flatcar, and caboose. I had the original transformer but no, I'm not about to plug it in! The track (3 rail) is rusted, and right now I'm getting the dirt and dust off the train. Then I'll see about de-rusting the track.

Suggestions about sources for parts and, most especially, repair knowledge, would be greatly appreciated.
