Subject: RE: BS: Christmas Thread for Christians...
I have to say that I'm a bit bothered when people wish me "Happy Holidays" - it seems to me to be a deliberate attempt to remove the word "Christmas" from our culture because some might consider it offensive.
I was at Target the other day, and the checker wished me "Happy Holidays." I responded, "Merry Christmas!" - not intending to make an issue, but just because that's what I say during the week before Christmas - and the check said "Merry Christmas!" back at me. I said, "So, are you allowed to say that?" The checker said she could say "Merry Christmas" only if the customer said it first.

I was at Macy's last night and the checker said, "Have a good evening." It didn't push Christmas on people who might not want it - but yet it didn't seem like a deliberate attempt to secularize the holiday.

I think I like the Macy's approach better. And their decorations were far more tasteful.
