Clinton, I know the song has been around for quite a while, but it's not uncommon for an "old" song to reach a much broader audience when it's used in a widely distributed movie or a radio or TV show that has a big audience.   The song "being out there" for Cohen afficcionados is one thing; becoming known to people who have few, if any, of his albums is another. :)

I, for one, love Leonard Cohen's music, especially some of his "later" work. (He sings a lot better now than he did in the 1960s, I think.) But there are lots of his songs I've never heard.

Interestingly enough, this song hadn't (apparently) made it to Mudcat before now. I'm just delighted that Thom Hartmann has been playing clips of it on his nationally syndicated radio show (and his Portland, OR show, too).
