Mark Damazer the controller of radio 4 wants to live up to his christian name by making his mark, he may come closer to his surname by being damned by old Radio4 addicts like myself.
Home Truths has lost its sparkle since John Peel died, and he is a hard act to follow. However David Stafford is a disaster, he sounds like a huckster injecting artificial enthusiasm into his every pronounciation. It needs someone with the individuality of a Fi Glover or an Andy Kershaw, neither of whom I like. There is an ideal presenter on Radio Scotland called Tom Morton, who has just the right mix of warmth and cynicism, combined with a wry sense of humour.
I'm afraid though as someone who spends most of Feedback shouting at the anodyne, couldn't care less responses to criticism by listeners, of radio producers and controllers, nothing we say will make any difference.
