If you get killed fighting for a particular cause, you might just be the last one, and no one will be there to take your place. I believe in fighting like hell for what I believe, then if I find I'm losing, running like hell, and regrouping to give it another shot. "He who fights and runs away lives to fight another day." Or as Patton said, "No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country."

If I'm under duress, I have no ethical problem at all about lying to or generally trying to deceive my oppressor. The only way to keep fighting is to stay alive.
