Thanks for all this stuff! A friend, now dead, used to sing this - the Victorian version - and I'm glad to get both words and (through the reference given here) music.
Question:The cop in verse 1 is McManmany; in verse 4 he's Dave O'Donnell. Why isn't he the same guy? I think when I sing it I'll use O'Donnell in both places.
