Biography:

Wonderful folksinger Almeda Riddle was born in 1898, near Greer's Ferry, Arkansas. She sang the traditional ballads of her heritage, eventually to crowds of admirers, and excelled as a teacher of shaped note singing. Roger D. Abrahams, noted folklorist, anthropologist, etc., interviewed Granny Riddle and edited a book based on those interviews, A Singer and Her Songs: Almeda Riddle's Book of Ballads.
