Please note a bit of TIC (tongue-in-cheek) in my previous comment. Both Word and WordPerfect are very powerful programs that allow you to do pretty much the same sorts of things differently.

With either program, you absolutely must do a little bit of study on how to "drive the course without hitting the flags."

Find a program that does what you want, and learn how to use it, and either Word or *Word(im)Perfect will get you where you want to go.
